Day 21: My Adventure Comes to an End

We got up early and headed to the train station. It was going to be another long day of travel. I took a bus to Norfolk, a train to Richmond, a two hour layover, then another train to High Point.

The bus portion… uneventful. I was only on it for like 35 minutes, so I couldn’t do much.

The train to Richmond was uneventful, as well. I slept most of this leg of the trip. I couldn’t help it! The rocking of the train and the coziness of my Central Park Zoo blanket made it hard to resist sleep.

The layover in Richmond was equally uneventful. It was a much shorter layover than the last time I passed through. This time it was only two hours; last time it was four and a half. Got on the final train (sad face) and began my trip home.

The cafe lady on this train was WAAAY too perky for how tired I was. I was glad I packed my own snackies so I wouldn’t have to get anything on this leg. The trip was easygoing. We ended up getting stuck behind a really slow freight train, so we ended up getting in about thirty minutes late.

We arrived and I called for an Uber. As soon as I got in the car, I could feel my body going into “we’re home” mode. I started feeling how much my muscles hurt and how tired I was. Thank goodness it was only a fifteen minute ride home. I got in the house. I unpacked what needed to be unpacked; the rest can wait until tomorrow. I ordered a bite to eat, since I didn’t really have anything in the fridge since I was gonna for three weeks and I cleaned everything out before I left. I ate dinner And took a quick shower. Then it was pjs and crawling into my own comfy bed for only the fourth night in a month (Florida was a day before I left for Sarah’s Epic Train Trip).

Whew! What a crazy but absolutely amazing three weeks…
